HOW SCORING WORKS

One idea runs through all of it: you only get paid for winning the down. Piling up yards on plays that failed is worth nothing.

WHAT COUNTS AS A SUCCESSFUL PLAY

Every play is judged against the yardage it actually needed — not against a flat number.

1st down40%4 yards on 1st and 10
2nd down60%6 yards on 2nd and 10
3rd / 4th100%convert, or nothing
A 3-yard run on 3rd and 8 is a failure. The offense gets nothing for the yards, and the defender who made the tackle gets paid.

OFFENSE AND DEFENSE ARE MIRRORS

OFFENSE

Earns on plays that succeeded. A 12-yard gain on 1st and 10 pays. A 12-yard gain on 3rd and 20 does not.

DEFENSE

Earns on plays the offense failed. Chasing a runner down 10 yards downfield pays nothing — you already lost the rep.

Touchdowns, turnovers, sacks and blocked kicks always count, whatever the down and distance.

WHAT EACH UNIT EARNS

Choose a position group to see every scoring event and its exact point value. The same breakdown appears on the home page.

PASSOFFENSE

Passing Attack

Quarterback, receivers and tight ends, scored together.

Successful pass yards, touchdowns, conversions, and 20+ yard completions score. Interceptions subtract.

Starting base2.04
Yard gained on a successful pass0.041
Passing touchdown4.0
Successful pass on 3rd or 4th down0.68
Completion of 20+ yards0.54
Interception thrown−1.02

Every position group is calibrated to a 20-point weekly average.

A stop is a tackle on a play the offense failed to convert. Half sacks and assisted tackles pay half.

A touchdown is the biggest scoring event in its unit. In the final five minutes of the fourth quarter—or in overtime—a touchdown earns +2 if it ties the game and +3 if it creates a lead the scoring source team never loses. A defensive unit also earns +2 for ending a late one-score possession, or +3 when that stand seals the game. Made field goals use the same tying and game-winning bonuses, and a 60-yarder starts at 7 points.

EVERY UNIT IS WORTH THE SAME

All seven are tuned so that an average week is 20 points, whichever unit it is. A good secondary and a good offensive line are worth the same to you.

THE THREE ROSTER RULES

1
Seven units, one of each

Passing, rushing, offensive line, defensive line, linebackers, secondary, special teams. No duplicates, no empty slots.

2
Seven different source teams in a week

You cannot field Cleveland's defensive line and Cleveland's linebackers in the same week.

3
Each squad can be used once a season

Once you use Cleveland's defensive line, it is gone for the rest of the year. But Cleveland is not gone — only that squad is.Cleveland's rushing attack, offensive line, linebackers, secondary and special teams are all still yours to play, in other weeks. Over a season a single source team can fill all seven of your slots, one at a time.

32 source teams × 7 units = 224 squads, and a 17-week season only uses 119 of them. Every rule is enforced by the database, so an illegal lineup cannot be saved even if something in the app goes wrong.

SQUAD GRADES

Every squad is ranked 1 to 32 against the other source teams in its unit. That rank sets the grade shown on its card design.

ALL-PROrank 1–6
PRO BOWLrank 7–13
STARTERrank 14–19
BACKUPrank 20–26
PRACTICE SQUADrank 27–32
Grades move every week. A squad that opens the season ALL-PRO can be a STARTER by November. A squad you have already used keeps the grade it had that week — that result is history.

HOW YOU WIN

There is no opponent and no schedule. Each week has one winner: whoever posts the highest score in the league. Everybody else did not win that week.

The season goes to whoever won the most weeks, with ties broken on average points.

This rewards spikiness. Three enormous weeks beats finishing second every week, even if second place scored more overall. That is deliberate — the squads are boom-or-bust and the title is scored the same way.

WHEN SCORES APPEAR

Sunday, first kickoff

Lineups lock. Nothing scores yet.

Sunday and Monday

Games are played. The board does not move during them — live in-game scoring is planned but not built.

Tuesday

Every unit is scored from the official play-by-play, and the week's winner is settled.

Tuesday rather than Sunday night on purpose. The league that publishes the play-by-play keeps correcting it for a day or so after the games — a sack gets reassigned, a tackle gets split. Scoring once, after it settles, means a result nobody has to un-celebrate.

WHERE PROJECTIONS COME FROM

A squad's projection is its season average, adjusted for who it lines up against — what that opponent has been giving up to this unit compared with the rest of the league.

In week 1 nothing has been played yet, so ratings start from last season and hand over to this one as games accumulate. Weather effects are measured but not yet applied.
